At The Beginning Of The Year, FPSD UPI’s DKV Study Program Is Eager To Prepare Project Based Learning In Cirebon City.

*) Discussion with the municipal government and Cirebon City agencies to discuss cooperation and implementation of DKV UPI study program’s Project Based Learning.

Cirebon (31/1), FPSD-UPI Visual Communication Design Study Program carried out exploratory activities and field studies which will be used as a location for implementing project-based learning (PBL). PBL is a form of implementation of the tridharma of higher education and the Kampus Merdeka policy. The PBL learning model emphasizes a learning process that has a final product. Students are directed to be able to solve problems by working on learning projects collaboratively to obtain problem-solving results in the form of design products. This effort is made by integrating the tridharma in the form of learning activities in each semester.

The projected location for the implementation of PBL in the even semester of the 2022-2023 academic year is located in Cirebon City. The activity which was carried out for two days on January 30-31, 2023 was attended by 11 people consisting of 9 lecturers, 1 assistant and 1 DKV study program staff. The exploration was carried out by reviewing various tourist attraction locations and MSME shopping centers that are the flagship of Cirebon City.

*) Visit to SME Mall in Cirebon City to review potential and product development through visual communication design approach.

The results of exploration and field studies show that there are various issues that can be raised to be used as project-based learning. Optimization of various design outcomes in tourist attractions such as visual identity and branding as well as their application in strengthening the image and legibility of places through sign systems. Optimization of promotional media both print and digital also needs to be done in an effort to solve design problems. In addition, development and training to support the progress of MSMEs are also of particular concern to be implemented in an effort to improve the quality of potential products.

*) Discussion and follow-up as well as planning for the realization of project-based learning in Cirebon City.

Joint discussions with the Cirebon City government and agencies based on the results of the assessment or field study resulted in a positive response and support for the realization of mutually beneficial cooperation between the City of Cirebon and the Visual Communication Design Study Program of FPSD UPI. Follow-up to address the cooperation plan is planned to be carried out immediately.
