FPSD UPI Hosts IPJCIT Japan to Discuss Three Strategic Collaboration Initiatives

Bandung, 26 November 2025 – The Faculty of Art and Design Education (FPSD) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) welcomed a delegation from the Ibaraki Prefectural Junior College of Information Technology (IPJCIT), Japan, in an official visit aimed at exploring international academic collaboration. The meeting, held at the FPSD Building, marked an important step in strengthening FPSD’s global partnerships, particularly with the Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) study program.
The IPJCIT delegation consisted of Sakae Tomonori, Director of International Relations, and Matsuri Maki, lecturer in design. Representing UPI were members of the FPSD leadership alongside the young lecturer team from the DKV program.
Three Collaboration Schemes Discussed

During the discussion session, both institutions explored various possibilities for academic cooperation and agreed to pursue three key initiatives:
- Faculty Exchange: A program enabling lecturers from UPI and IPJCIT to engage in teaching exchanges, joint workshops, and cross-institutional academic activities.
- Student Exchange: Opportunities for students to participate in short-term or semester-based mobility programs designed to broaden international exposure and enhance creative competencies.
- Collaborative Programs: Joint design projects, co-hosted exhibitions, and applied research activities combining the strengths of both institutions in design and technology.
Delegation Impressed by Student Work Exhibition
As part of the visit, the IPJCIT delegation toured an exhibition featuring packaging design and UMKM (local micro-business) websites created by DKV students. These works are part of a broader UMKM rebranding project, where students redesign visual identities and digital presence to elevate the competitiveness of local enterprises.

The delegation expressed strong appreciation for the students’ creativity, particularly their ability to merge local cultural elements with contemporary design approaches. They noted that many of the works demonstrated potential for international showcase.
Advancing FPSD’s Internationalization Efforts
The visit reflects FPSD UPI’s ongoing commitment to expanding global academic networks and enhancing educational quality through strategic collaboration. Both institutions conveyed optimism that the initial agreements will soon translate into concrete programs and sustained long-term cooperation.
