The program engaged children aged 10–14, consisting of elementary and middle school students. They participated in two main learning modules craft making and basic drawing facilitated directly by students from the Art Education program.

Strengthening Educational Collaboration Between Campus and Community

This initiative served as an implementation of the university’s tridharma teaching, research, and community service. The participating students applied art-teaching methods learned in prior workshops, including creative instructional techniques, child-friendly approaches, and activity-based art classroom management.

Representatives from the 3AO Library expressed appreciation for the program, noting increased enthusiasm among the children through the engaging and interactive art activities.

Meaningful Hands-on Learning Experience

During the craft-making session, participants created simple artworks using easily accessible materials, encouraging creativity, precision, and fine motor skills.

In the basic drawing session, students introduced foundational drawing skills such as lines, basic shapes, proportion, and texture exploration. The children responded enthusiastically, creating an energetic and participatory learning atmosphere.

All activities were thoroughly documented through photos and videos as official archives for HIMASRA and future program evaluation.

Recognition for Participants

As a form of appreciation, HIMASRA students received competency certificates for their contributions as facilitators. The participating children were also awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their involvement and enthusiasm.

HIMASRA’s Ongoing Commitment to Community Engagement

This program reinforces HIMASRA UPI’s commitment to expanding community service initiatives rooted in visual arts education. Beyond strengthening campus community partnerships, the activity also enriched the students’ field-teaching experience, demonstrating the role of art as an inclusive and inspiring educational medium.
